I heard there are a couple of plastic tabs you have to snap off the SL8 mag to make it fit.... that true?

Other way around. If you want to use G36 mags in an SL8 you need to remove the two tabs inside the SL8 reciever. SL8 mags have an indent on both sides. G36 mags do not. It was done that way to make the german government happy and allow the sales to civilians.

Thanks, that makes it easy for me. Just buy some SL8 mags, and pop 'em in my G36.
