I am thinking about getting one of the above rifles as a varmit rifle.

They all look cool to say the least and they all are non-restricted (as long as you have the Swiss Arms rifle with the longer barrel).

Price wise I know the Swiss Arms is the most expensive, then the SL8 and then the MR1.

I am maybe leaning more towards the SL8 or MR1 due to price (as I still need to purchase a scope, probably a Trijicon or a Swaro Z6).

I wanted an SL8 or a USC to do an UMP conversion, but ended up with a Swiss Arms CQB and I love it - looking back I am SO GLAD I did not buy the H&K, I still like the authentic UMP but the Swiss is my #1 fav rifle

If you want a non-restricted the HK is your best shooter with a heavy barrel and 'good enough' trigger(although for a sport rifle I think the trigger should have been much better, and there is little you can do to make it better), but hold one first as some people find the thumbhole grip uncomfortable while others love it. Just test it first is all. If you get the inclination you can do the G36 conversion down the road as well.

The SAN would be my second choice but its still an awesome rifle. It's a solid, durable(more than the HK), and quite accurate. To me the SAN looked a little long and is pricey for what you get (upwards of 3k for nothing but the rifle).

Never heard much on the Benelli's but, and this is just one mans opinion, I don't like the esthetics of the rifle.

The Swiss Arms is a fine rifle but it's too heavy for varmint hunting, in my experience. If you need to walk a lot during your varmint hunting, you may find that's too much of a rifle. if you have the luxury of staying in one location and do varmint call for coyotes, it would be O.K. but walk walk a couple of clicks with it and see for yourself.

If it were me, based solely on these three choices I'd go with the MR1. The Swiss is probably the best out of the three, but much heavier and easily twice the price. Plus you're limited to 5-round proprietary magazines (there are some new lowers that will take standard AR magazines, but this will also add to the price). I think the SL8 is heavier than the MR1 as well (and yes, you can get the AR15 mag well adapter - but it's also an extra).

So you're looking at $1,795 (MR1/collapsible) vs. $2,399 (SL8) vs. $3,399 (SAN). Not to make things more complicated, but I'd also look at the Robinson XCR ($2,299) as it's non-restricted and takes standard AR magazines.

The MR1 also comes in a collapsible stock option (similar to the Benelli M4), btw.

And I've seen some XCRs really done up nicely with AR grips, different stocks/adapter, etc.

You should try a Savage 12 series w/HB, now that's a heavy varminter.

Personally, I think you should hit the gym ;)
