Just wondering how much weight do you think that you'd save by slabbing a m700 titanium action?

Do you think this affects the strength or potential accuracy of the rifle?

thanks

Just wondering how much weight do you think that you'd save by slabbing a m700 titanium action? NOT MUCH - AN OUNCE, MAYBE 2.

Do you think this affects the strength or potential accuracy of the rifle? IT CERTAINLY WOULD NOT HELP IT.

As Dennis pointed out, you don't lose a lot of weight. Maybe 2 oz on a long action. I've not seen any evidence that it is detrimental to accuracy but it stands to reason it could be.
I've probably done a dozen or so but, in every case, there were enough other alterations ( new barrel or new stock or both), there was no longer any basis for comparison.
Like most weight loss techniques, the purpose is as much to LOOK light as it is to be light! Regards, Bill

What is slabbing an action? never heard of it.

I think you can compare it to cutting the sides off a loaf of bread length wise. :D

If you were to flat side portions of a round action and make it look like a Browning A-Bolt I think you could say it would be slab sided.
