Hi,
I'm toying with the idea of sleeving a barrel shank to fit a different receiver. does anyone have any suggestions, methods, or advice? What size should the wall thickness be? Should it be a shrink fit, or loctite/acraglass?
Thanks.

I have done it for myself, it is not worth the cost for someone to pay to have it done.

Caliber? Action? Barrel to be used? That may determine the thread diameter of the bushing.

Fine threads on the turned down shank probably at least 24tpi. Thread the bushing first, then thread the barrel to fit snugly. It must thread on by hand all the way. Then it can be Loctited in place. Then the barrel can be turned and threaded as normal.

Hey Guntech,is it possible for you to re-sleeve a chamber? I have a Win 95/35wcf that I bought years ago knowing full well what the problem with it was. Not into it for a lot of $$ but would like to get it operational. Previous owners used knife, screwdriver and probably other tools to extract stuck cases, chamber pretty messed up!

I won't say it is impossible but it is not considered safe to sleeve most high pressure chambers unless the sleeve stops within the body, not as far as into the shoulder. The cost would be high as well. I wouldn't do it...

Thanks Guntech. Thought I might be able to get the work done up here. Went ahead and bought it after discussing with Norm @ High Plains Reboring in ND,but that was a few years back when laws and personal life were a lot simpler.
His idea was to bore out and thread to shoulder then JB Weld fine thread barrel plug. By shortning shank (ie.3/16) and using a rimmed plug would correct headspace which probably was the cause of it.
Well, maybe a road trip with the correct paperwork as I also have a Marlin 38-55 he was to re-line and a Shilo Sharps to re-barrel in Big Timber.
Thanks again.
