Hey Folks , can you guys and gals name me some reputable places in Western Canada that do slide milling for mounting an optic. Have a few rimfires and I'd like to get one milled now that there won't be any FN502's or Sig P322's coming to Canada.
thanks
Allan

There was other companies like CDN Gunworx but honestly, Blackbox is the only option. I saw some front serrations by CDN G that had what looked like cracks in it. The still have pics of their work with cracks in the serrations on Instagram. Be weary of other folks that offer this service. Ask for pics of previous work. Etc.

I'm sure they do good work, but they are telling me around 3 hours at $120. plus $150. for Cerokote to mill for an optic. $500-$600 for milling for an optic seems steep !!!!!
Is that what folks have been paying for this sort of thing?
Any other company's doing this sort of work?

Your other option is to look for an already milled slide and then sell your factory slide.

There is a market for factory sides depending on the make / model.

You can then offset the price.

Occasionally there are some good deals to be had on EE.

I purchased a brownells optic ready RMR cut Glock 17 slide with a top front cutout and serrations front and back on EE here NIB for something like $475 a couple of years ago. Fantastic slide for the price.

That seems like a rather high cost, are you getting other milling work completed on your slide? I saved $50 sending mine in during their promotion but my milling, cerakote, cover plate and holosun optic worked out not much more than what you are saying.

No, BBC forces you to get it cerakoted. Because they are afraid if you sell the gun and not get it done, it come back to them cutting costs.

If you don't mind shipping it, Tactical Ordnance in Ontario does excellent work. I've had several slides done there. $150 and add $80 if you need cera. Ask for Casey:cool:

Man BBC quoted me a lot of money to have my P09 milled. They want to charge me 2-3 hours labour to scan my slide and make a 3d rendering of it. This is because they never did a P09 before. But after they scan mine they would have it forever which is beneficial to them for future clients. Then another hour labour to do the cut and then 150 for the cerakote. Might have to check with other places cause that’s just too damn steep.

You talk to Joseph Wu? He did my Shadow 1, that BBC wouldnt touch. I can use any Shadow 2 optic plate, pending I have the holes enlarged for 6-40 screws.

Not worth it in the slightest. So many gun models are already available with optic cuts. Custom milling takes time and expensive machinery and you want the operators of that expensive machinery to be good at their jobs which costs good wages.

So if you ever want custom gun work done, make sure your gun is worth it and you have the realistic budget for it.

does the end justify the cost? Don’t forget the add the cost of a quality optic.. another $450-800
