This is slightly off topic, but I'm more likely to get the answer here than anywhere else. I have a first series Colt Woodsman, it's been rebarrelled to avoid the crusher and re-registered. The pistol currently has no finish at all. Who does the best rust blueing (or if anyone knows what the original finish is I'm all ears) - I'm not going to do it myself, the old girl deserves a proper job.

Can’t help with the bluing but curious, why would it need to be rebarelled? They made them with 4 1/2 and 6 5/8 inch barrels.

This one measured out at 4 1/8 when properly measured - it may have been recrowned, and it wasn't registered. You can't register a new prohib, so it got a new barrel and a new reg. Beats feeding it to a shredder, there aren't that many of these old girls out there. The collector value is gone, so I figure why not get her done up. Incidentally I did find a reference to excellent work done by Brian Densmore in NS.
