I have a 14lb when all dressed up "Precision" rifle. I don't know if I can trust the little Uncle Mikes type standard studs? I hate for one of them to pop out at an unopportune time sending an expensive rifle and scope smashing into the ground.

I also think it would be more comfortable and practical to have the attachments on the side, instead of the common bottom of the rifle.

My stocks a McMillan A3.

Any suggestions? Whats available?

Those "little studs" are remarkably tough, but if you are not comfortable with them you might consider Uncle Mikes QD 100 swivels. These have a push button release in the center of the swivel, and are physically much larger than the standard QD studs. They also have the advantage of being a flush mount. Check them out on Brownells web site.
