Sling mount question

So I've got the Scattergun Tech. +1 mag extension on my 870, which has the sling plate on it. However it's currently mounted to the left side:

like so. This is no good, because not only will it interfere with the light that will be attached to that side in the near future, it is also on the same side as the side saddle, which makes for some very uncomfortable wearing of the gun.
Now, currently I can just position it like this:

So it's underneath and has some side-to-side swing/play in it (which is fine, it doesn't rattle or anything). However, I'm thinking it would be more beneficial to have it on the right side of the gun, and then buy a right-side rear sling mount. Right? :p
So, to flip the plate around, I'd have to get some interior pliers to remove that lock ring as seen here:

But does the washer behind the ring just come right off, and then the sling plate comes off as well? I'm a bit confused about this.

Looks like your gun is to be set up for a right hander if I get you correctly? I have the sling plate for the front and rear end on my 870. It is fine for me as I am left handed. When a right handed shooter tries to use it they are fine with light loads but with 00 buck and slugs there is some flesh pealing on the trigger finger due to the sling plate and recoil.

You are better off to move the light rail if you think you may have this issue.

I got it turned around just now, and yes I'm going to have it set up for a right-handed shooter on the right side. Hadn't thought about it digging in to my hand lol. I was going to get a right hand rear mount like this one:

But on second thought, I'll likely buy this one:

Thanks for the help!
