Hi

I am relatively new to the Canadian market, and have enjoyed my 180c for the last couple months.

I am however somewhat clueless to the Sling mount + Sling market. There seems to be a gazillion options of slings/tactical slings etc etc.

I just want to have a basic sling + mounts, nothing fancy just something that allows me to sling the rifle tight to my chest/back when needed with adjustable tightness or to drop to my side but still be attached to me.

I can see that I need an M-LOK mount on the rail of the rifle, and the stock seems to accept one too.

Can anyone recommend some mounts and a sling where I'm not paying for a brand name and the ability to be a mall-ninja?

Step 1: Buy a standard Blue Force Gear sling with the mounts of your choice. Never look back.

Alternately

  • Step 1: Try a single point sling
  • Step 2: Try a single point sling with a bungee
  • Step 3: Try a three point sling
  • Step 4: Try a three point sling with different QD and buckle configurations
  • Step 5: Repeat the above step
  • Step 6: Repeat the above steps with HK hooks
  • Step 7: Try a two point sling with fixed length
  • Step 8: Try a two point sling with convoluted length adjustment
  • Step 9: Try turning a two point sling into a three point sling
  • Step 10: Buy a standard Blue Force Gear sling with the mounts of your choice. Never look back.

In all honesty, my last few QD button sling mounts have been from Amazon. No one else seemed to have them in stock.

As for a sling, I'm a big fan of the quick adjust sling offered by Gear Dynamics. Canadian made for a great price. I've been a user of quick adjust two point slings for a number of years and I swear by them.

I'm biased, but good call on the sling. Discounts for serving members too.

I put a magpul mlok qd mount on my handgaurd and a qd buffer plate (bcl 102 & ar15's). I use the magpul ms4 slings i find then durable and very functional.

I use mlok qd mount on rail and attach the other end to stock. I agree with others a quick adjust 2 point sling is the best. I use a MS3 knock off for $20, but remove/replace the cheap attachment points.

You'd be surprised. +- 20 thou tolerances on what should be +- 2 thou.
Either can't get the button in, or won't stay in. 10 bucks well wasted...

This.

It's one thing to use cheap chinese slings (cuz really, how can you *uck up a nylon strap), but be careful with attachment points. I had some knock-off QD buttons and they were smaller in diameter than standard........very amusing when your rifle suddenly drops off your sling and bounces off the ground.

Magpul QD receiver endplates + knock-off QD buttons = :(

I would be very interested if someone would make a suggestion to how i can
Use my 2 point sling on my FNAR
The rifle has a side rail mounted either side of the fore end
But the butt stock has a conventional sling stud
