Comrades,
I just bought a .22 for my son (read: me). Went with a GSG STG 44 just because it looks cool and I am interested in the story of the original STG. So far, I love it--solid construction, 25 round mags, ok accuracy for what I expected over iron sights. I notice that it has a front attachment point for a sling but nothing rearward. Unlike the original GSG model from 5 years back, mine doesn't have a groove in the stock to thread a sling. Does anyone have any options that won't involve me making a significant modification to the look of this beauty?

What?! I can't believe that! Can you post a pic?

P.S. I just realized that you must have so called "Black" version of the GSG StG 44 which indeed does not have that cut in the buttstock for a sling! This is a new version which IMO is not exactly correct. The "brown" stock version of the GSG StG44 is an authentic one and has a cut in the buttstock for a sling (see a pic of my GSG StG44). I wonder why did you decide to buy the "black" version?

That is true, my friend. I did get the darker stock model. Two reasons for this: first, beggars can't be choosers--only one available and I really didn't want to wait another month or two to get it and miss out on the summery shooting goodness that exists only briefly in Atlantic Canada. Secondly, I knew the stock was a less authentic colour, but thought this was the only difference. Given I was going to be giving it to my son, I figured that I'd eventually get a second one if I really liked it and would seek out the brown stock version. Of course, the sling attachment point would have been a deal breaker had I noticed it!
Seeing as you have one already, any ideas on how to fit a stock without excessively jury rigging? I could mount hardware to the stock, but that involves drilling. The only other option I can see is to put a sling cradle attachment on the buttstock or a wrap around sling attachment point near the back of the receiver. All are pretty ugly options, but again...beggars can't be choosers.
