Sling swivel & stud mod. (photos)

I've had this mod on my gauge for some time. I never though of it much, but wanted to share the idea.

Doesn't make much of a difference as far as sling removal if you want to go without with the front being permanently attached to the extension, but the swivel being able to twist a bit at the rear helps with slinging the gun on and off a bit easier I find.

I had a few of these from an UncleMikes REM 870 Police kit. I use one on the mag tube clamp of my 18" Mag with the top folder and the other on the above 14".

Sorry for the crappy photos. I'll replace them when I have a better time with a camera.

what did you use as an insert for the but stock??

Hey there Simon.

The insert was the female part of an UncleMikes swivel set I had kicking around and fitted into the stock after drilling a bigger hole where the stud used to be. I used a different screw than was supplied and shaped it to fit.

There's enough meat in the stock for the insert (1/4") to fit flush and for the screw to catch plastic. Or you can drill right through and attach a nut on the other side. Mine is just screwed into the polymer stock.

I don't know where you'd find more of these inserts. You think you can get some made?
