Slinging a BLR

I have a new BLR (young fella's really) and I want to install a sling. It has no studs.

I went to Western Gun Parts and bought the studs. For the forestock there is a round piece that contains the stud and a sleeve. I thought I understood how to do this, but either I am off (possible) or I have the wrong parts.

I thought the forestock screw simply went through the sleeve and donut. But #1 it's not long enough
and #2 the screw and sleeve don't seem to fit properly.

Any advice???

Are you sure that you got the parts for the correct model of BLR? There are differences between the original BLR, the 81, and the Lightnings.
