I was wondering if all the Mosin Nagants were issued with the same sling. Was the M91/30 issued with the same sling as the M44? How about the Finnish M39? I think they were all the same type, but are they differing lengths? Thanks,

Logan

There are carbine length slings, though a rifle sling can be used. The Soviet slings in WW2 were generally leather. The ubiquitous canvas slings selling with the refurbs are all 1950's era cold war slings.

Finn slings are very different from Russian slings, for starters they are much narrower.

I guess you wouldn't be able to get the leather ones eh? I have only seen the canvas ones available. Oh and thanks for your help:)

e-pay is the only source I know of for Russian leather slings. Expect to pay stupid prices.

Easiest wartime Russian slings to find are the non-adjustable "ersatz" carbine slings for the M44 and M38. They are a mix of canvas types with integral leather dog collars. I have them on all my carbines, and prices are reasonable. The longer all-leather rifle slings though are expensive and rare, much like wartime ammo pouches.

I have seen some for sale, so if someone really wants one, it's possible to get.
