There are as many sling manufactures as there are firearms, maybe more. Just purchased a new 590A1. A beast. Will need a sling. Had a marine say low point slings are for marching. High point slings are functional. Show me what youve got and what youd recommend.

Thank you

Any of the reputable quick adjust slings like Vickers. I myself prescribe to Gear Dynamics for my tactical slings as they're open ended and can use any attachment end, PLUS that big adjustment plate that can't fail.

Any of the big name 2-points will do, and that doesn't exclude the old classics such as brands you'd find at Cabelas. That said, mounting will be the real question.

You were right about the old saying, and trying to rest a bottom mounted sling across the chest just feels odd. As a rear stock mount (excluded a receiver plate) can be a pain, I find that running a front sling plate and traditional stud on the stock can actually sit quite well.

There are also a few great nylon stock adapters out there (VTAC, Specter, etc.) but they aren't available here. Have to get them sent from the states.

OSOE 2-point, converts in a second to a single point. I like a single point for actually working the gun; 2-point rides way nicer when just carrying it in the bush.

I'm a fan of Magpul MS1 (or any of the MS series that fit your needs) - MS1 specifically is cheaper than many of the gucci brand slings, has a quick slider, and the attachment hardware isn't stitched in, so you can adapt/move it to different configs with a variety of swivel attachments. It's also widely available, so I can get one for each of my long guns for consistency.

I'm ahead of Maple57 on this. I've been using 'shoulder straps' from notebook carry bags for a long time. I buy the bags at Sally's for about $5, then take the strap off and sell the bag at yard sale for $5. I've got them on 3 shotguns, my .308, .223, and 2 .22s. Just adjust for proper length for the forearm tension and set the shoulder cushion for the 'barrel down' carry. Most are long enough for cross-shoulder if that's your poison.
