When I recived my pal ages ago there was a slip of paper that said always keep this with you on it. However, I have lost this slip of paper, and was wondering if it is actually important? If so where do i get a new one

i asked the same question and some people said that they had it and some tossed it in the fire when they got it. I think its supposed to list any special circumstances on your license and if you have none than its not that important. im sure if you had some stickler for following procedure(like he'd know that) pull you over you could get in trouble. i just folded mine and slipped it in the back of my wallet. it would come again when you get a new licence, no?

I lost mine probably 5 minutes after receiving my first PAL years ago. I just renewed my PAL again on November 2013 and it didn't come with that paper this time..

The front of your PAL will either say "standard conditions are attached to this licence" or "special conditions are attached to this licence" If it says the latter, your little white piece of paper will list those specific conditions and you will need to keep it.

This makes the most sense. I didn't even noticed that on the paper when I got my PAL... I think I was too busy ogling my new card :)

I have the same piece of paper and i wasn't sure so ive been carrying it around since i received my license ... just want to avoid any issues, it may come into play.. idk

My experience tells me the "special condition" is usually for minor's licence holders requiring licenced adult supervision. The special condition paper needed to be carried with the minor licence. The condition was eventually removed by Parent request.

I called our CFO about it and she told me to not bother carrying it since I had no special conditions. But I keep it in my ATT folder just in case.

I spoke with the RCMP and asked for clarification on the paper. If you have special conditions that are outlined on the piece of paper, you have to carry it. If none are listed, you don't need the paper. It's as simple as that.

I'm rather surprised that such an important piece of identification has such an unclear warning. This community is very well informed and researched and yet even amongst ourselves we aren't (weren't) sure what to do.

You're supposed to keep it for inspection

Really?....
I'll pretend you didn't say that...

If there are no special conditions attached to your license then you can toss the piece of paper.
If there are conditions, then your card will state that and the conditions will be listed on the reverse side of the paper and you must then keep the paper with you.
