Slower burning powder recommendation for 9 & 45

Currently using Titegroup and 231. Going to keep using Titegroup for my FMJ IPSC loads but am looking for some recommendations for a slower burning powder for lead bullets.

We've been having lots of problems with leading and lube fouling with Lee's TL design bullets. I've slugged my barrels and bullet size isn't an issue. The only time we don't get tons of gunk in the barrel is if I reduce the load so much that the guns won't cycle.

So, we'll try changing the powder hoping that will solve the problems and still be able to have a decent load.

Preferably something in Win, Hodgdon or IMR since that is what Higginson's deals with. Alliant and others are a little harder to get.

I like HS-6 for my 9mm's.

Universal is good and like mentioned HS6

Try Accurate Arms #5. A ball powder that meters well and has a similar burn rate to Unique.

We'll assume you're using cast bullet data. Bullseye works just fine with either cartridge. 4.5 grains of it, in the .45, with a 230 grain cast RN or FP bullet works extremely well. 3.5 to 4.8 for a 121 grain cast 9mm bullet works well too.
"...tons of gunk in the barrel..." If it's leading, you're trying to drive a cast bullet too fast.
