Slug Ammo

Any recommendations on great slug ammo? Currently going to be used for deer and anything else permitted in southern Ontario. I was hoping to buy several boxes worth to zero my SBE 2's new/used barrel.

Hard to beat Score. They're loaded with BPI Thug slugs. Been 100% reliable and shoot good in a number of shotguns for me. I believe they're harder than typical foster slugs. MV from an 18.5" 870 was 1300 fps for the 1 1/8 oz. $23.99 for a box of 25 at WSS.

Something to consider about score, both weights include the plastic wad so the 1oz is actually a little under 7/8oz and the 1 1/8 is 1oz of lead. Both are accurate and both fly at just over 1300fps out of the 2 14" shotguns I tested them in. For deer I would choose any generic foster 1 oz from rem, fed or win. They are much faster (less drop) and will knock a deer on its ass just as well, probably better since the soft lead will flatten quickly. Honestly it's hard to go wrong with pretty much any slug at reasonable ranges.

I have had very good results with Challengers. Accurate and quite a bit more velocity too.

Challenger slugs are great. They were under $1 a piece a couple years ago. Latest local price is $22/10.... Still not bad if you just need to sight in and bag an animal I guess.

I bought a few boxes of the Challengers a couple of years ago at $16 a box. I almost fainted when I saw they now run for about $25 with tax. What the heck?
