Slug gun scope recommendations

I have a Leupold ultimate slam on my savage 212 and I have a Nikon Prostaff slug scope on my 870 w/rifled cantilever barrel. The Leupold glass quality is fantastic and definitely pulls more light at dawn and dusk. Both reticles are quite similar. Both hold zero well and have held up to abuse and the test of time. I paid $400 on here for the Leupold and I paid $125 for the Nikon. The Leupold is superior. But not worth 3x the price IMO. Just remember, it’s a slug gun. You’re not shooting long range. Hope this helps.

A 1x4 or 1.5x5... Parallax set at 50 or 75 yards
I agree - low power better than high power. I used to have a 3-9x40 on mine, until a doe walked up about 7 yards from me. All I could see was hair. Found the "elbow", moved back a few inches, and fired. No problems finding her, but now I have a Leupold 2-7x32 on my slug gun but am pondering a 1.5-4.5x32.

YMMV

Hi all, I’m looking for scope recommendations to mount on a 12 gauge shot gun with rifled barrel .

Thanks in advance,
Alex
I have a older Vortex Crossfire II Rimfire 2-7x mounted on my Moss 940 Pro. As mentioned above, it has the 50 yard parallax and my hunting distance for deer or bear is about 30 yard.

If you're interested, the new Vortex Crossfire HD line of rifle scopes are out now and have a nice illuminated dot except for the rimfire model which sucks and they are quite affordable.
