Yup as other posters stated... Shotgun uses shells, Rifle uses cartridges. Smoothbore, rifled, doesn't make a difference. If you are concerned about areas like southern Ontario that are regulated to .275 caliber or lower, any modern shotgun is still legal to hunt with with or without a rifled barrel. We use Slug guns in 12 and 20 guage with rifled barrels and Hornady SST sabots to take deer (controlled season and pest control on federal land) and for pest coyotes when preserving the pelt isn't an issue. All good and all legal, hunt with a few C.O.'s and Federal game officers from time to time.
