Hey guys,
Im going to buy a slug gun. I would prefer a 12 guage pump with a cantelivered barrel. Remmington, Winchester, and benelli all make one that would suit my needs. Any feed back on these? is there anything I should avoid? Ive got a few first time hunters coming to the deer hunt this year. Most shots will be 50yrds or less and 100yrds would be the extreme. I just want to get something thats easy to use and relatively cheap. These guys have all fired shotguns with me so I figure they will be most comfortable with a slug gun.

Cheers,

Sean

I found the inexpensive Rem 870 express with the smoothbore to be accurate enough using standard lead slugs. It prints about 6 inch groups at 100. I assume the rifled vers. would be more accurate.

If you can live with a singleshot, H & R makes a very accurate rifled slug gun. A heavier gauge diameter barrel s used to make the 12 guage slugger.

First time hunters can be intimidated by the recoil from slugguns, and it takes practice to be proficient with a sluggun at any range.
All of the slugguns you mentioned will perform well if you find the right sabot for them.

870 Express with rifled barrel using Winchester Platinum Sabot slugs open sights. I have used for 5 years all bucks came within 25 yards and never went more then 5ft.
