Hi guys
Got a question here about Dominion Arms "Outlaw"

A slug seems to be too tight when placed in wad (i can't put it in the muzzle end of barrel). There is no such problem witn Mossberg 500.

Bullet without wad goes there just fine, with "lots" of room around it. Barrel markings clearly says "12GA Cyl".

Is it safe to shoot slugs, or that "pinched" wad can create too much pressure?

Thanks!

What is a container?

sorry, I meant plastic wad

I'm assuming a Foster style slug and you are correct the slug inside the shot cup will be too tight and create excessive pressure. I have seen the fingers cut off a shotshell wad and then it is loaded under the slug , that would be ok.

Yeah, I was thinking about doing the same thing. Thanks for confirming that people actually do that :)

If you are loading a Lee Precision slug, it is suppose to fit into a regular shot wad then loaded into a shotshell and either roll crimped or fold crimped. Lee Precision provides the loading instructions with their mold and NO it will not create excessive pressure if you follow their very well detailed instructions. What will very possibly create excessive pressure and is dangerous to you, and anyone around you when you pull the trigger, is if you are trying to make your own homemade "YouTube" slugs without proper load instructions. Is that what you are trying to do???

No, I actually tested Lee slug (7\8 oz). Didn't get to actually reloading it yet, just tried to check size (as I said, no problems with Mossberg, you can push slug in wad thorugh the barrel all the way out). SO I gotta read instruction then :) well, it was next step anyway..

Thanks all!

whats the measurement on it loaded in a shell? check the width of the slug and then the shotcup and slug and measure the muzzle end and see what size they all are

slugs are supposed to be tight. you need pressure behind them to make velocity. you can shoot foster slugs out of a full choke if you really want to.

You shouldnt be able to push it through by hand....

Try pushing any bullet through a rifle or handgun barrel and see how that works for ya. Lol

It needs an extremely tight fit to build enough pressure and also to prevent the wad from melting when gas blows past through a gap between the barrel and wad. This is why lead bullets are often oversized quite a bit.
