slugs for hunting

Looking at going for a bear and or moose hunt on the weekend. Planing on just using my mossberg 12G pump (smooth barrel) should I be looking at sabot slugs? or will 3"mag 1/14oz rifled slugs do the trick?

Sabot rounds are for rifled barrels. Just go with a good rifled slug.

I shot some Remington "Slugger" rifled slugs out of my Rem 870 12 ga. (mod. choke) and at 50 yards was amazed at how accurate they were. They weren't all bullseyes, but all within a few inches of the centre. Pretty good groupings overall. I didn't try any further than that though, so I don't know how they'd be out to 100 yards.
