I was wondering if it was safe to shoot slugs thru a barrel with a modified choke? The gun in question is a can am 12.5 grizz.

That's what works best for me, but different gun. It should be safe, but you never know if a different choke might be more accurate for you particular gun and load.

Thanks guys,
I thought it would be fine but i was given false information at my hunting course about choked barrels+slugs= split barrel. Thanks again

Just be sure the choke tube is screwed down well enough.

Might want to try a rifled choke tube with your slugs.

I bought a box of Rem slugs this weekend and on it read
'Slugs may be shot out of any choke, however imp.cyl.
provides the best results'
Something very close to that anyway.

Does anyone know the size specs for a modified choke ?
I too have a 12.5 Griz which came with a 'mod' choke,
but when I measured it, it was .701"!
Thats more like a full choke, no? I thought full was .700"-.710"

he're a list of constrictions, although "fairly" standard, every company seems to have it's own thoughts on what works best.

being as you're measuring the choke tube in a Grizz, made by our wonderful high precision friends across the pacific, I would be somewhat concerned as to consistancy in their choke tubes.. ;)
