small hand problem

I have small hands.

I have comfortably held and shot the following:

Springfield XD40/9

BHP

Single stack 1911's

CZ 75 series

Glock 17/22 (gen 3) ain't too bad

Ruger P97 (also the new model P345, not handled, but supposed to be a bit slimmer)

Ruger MKII/III 22/45 pistols. ( the MKIII's are MUCH slimmer than the already slim MKII's)

single stack 1911 for me as well - although I am now shooting a G22 regularly.

Actually, the more I think about it.....guns that I used to think had grips that were too large now seem to fit more comfortably (such as Berettas).

Oh, single stack Sigs aren't bad either (P220 9mm or 45acp).

the CZs might be a problem for DA shots...

Alot of people tend to think that CZs are good for small hands but, as omen points out, they are not for everyone's small hands. I dont know what it is but CZs have never felt right in my hand although I have never tried to diagnose the problem.

TREBOR101, where are you located ? Might be best to get out to the range and try a few on for size - lots of great guys on CGN that might be willing to help you out ;-)

:D i live in Montreal looking to join a range very soon i am waiting for permit.Thank you all for helping me lighting up my humble candle from your torch of knowledge  (sorry for poor english

+1 for Beretta Vertec

you know what they say about people with small hands? :p : ya know that it's hard to find the right gun.... that and the size thing

I have small hands and this is what I shoot:

Sig P220 in 9mm or .45acp (Perfect)
Beretta 92FS (A little big but manageable)
Beretta Compact (Perfect)
Colt Governement 1911 (Perfect)
Walther P99 (Adjustable so perfect)

HK USP 9mm - Too big
Glock17 - Did not fit well
Glock21 - Definitely too big

WALTHER P99.
My wife cannot shoot a Glock comfortably, so we looked at the P99.. she loves it.
Comes with three interchangable grips.. find the one that suites you best and put it on. Its an adjustable back piece... nice set up. oh ya.. the mag release is on the trigger guard too.. very easy operation.. dont have to worry about reaching the thumb around, which is a problem for some people.
Funny thing is, I am more accurate with her P99 than my Glock... damn.

I personally have no problems with a Glock or a double stack grip, my hands aren't small, i don't have huge lumberjack hands either.

That being said my Sig 220 fits my hands perfectly.

Edit: My hand is 7 1/4 inches from wrist to tip of middle finger.

I think it might be easier for people to mention their hand size to relate problems of gripping a pistol. Obviously hand strength also plays into this as well...but hand size will help understanding...more specifically, wrist-finger measure of hand size, rather than palm/knuckle circumference.

Single Stack 1911, I have small hands ( around 6" from the tip to where my hand meets the wrist ) and I found the XD40 was too small, even though it was a double stack.

I had good luck with BHP, SIG 226.. Im able to grip the DE okay and keep control. Same with the glocks, beretta's. I found that the HK were a bit larger then the berettas.
