First off this is her choice not mine. She has a compact 13" lop 870 in 20. I was looking at getting a 12" lop for her. This shows how small she is. She is on a limited budget, likes to shoot some skeet with us, and will not be shooting 3 1/2". I am looking at some of the auto loaders with/available short stocks. Your views & ideas please.

I can only recommend what has worked in my experience, an 11-87 Youth model. But it is in 20 gauge. Still kills ducks just fine.

Wood stocks are easily modified, BPS, Silver hunter Micro and Winchester SX3 compact are all available with wood stocks and if used is an option I'd be looking hard at used 1100's and 11-87's there are lots of aftermarket barrels to help make it better balanced.

Some girls can barely handle recoil and others can... 20G for women is the norm.

Here's Transam1991's cousin shooting a short barreled Grizzly 12G, we mixed a couple slugs in there. She shot a 45/70 too, with Hornady ammo, probably the loudest firearm I've ever heard. Recoil wasn't a problem for her.

I think the weatherby youth model has a 12.5" length of pull, there's a 20 gauge model (GH2) on prophet river, even has a pink stock. As mentioned above, if you call em in closs enough for her, the 20 shouldnt be an issue.

On a limited budget, a good used 20 ga. Remington 1100 Skeet would fit the bill.
Simple & inexpensive enough to reduce the LOP to whatever fits her. Easy to maintain.
I would also fit a decent recoil pad ... Pachmayr Decelerator, Limbsaver or Kickeez.

She has a 20. There are lots of smaller people that hunt with a 12. I too own a couple 20s but do not take them to the duck blind. She does not want to feel under gunned and I can't blame her. A 12 auto with 24" barrel may be the way.
