Small, light, black bear and deer carbine?

Some great suggestions. And a few fit the bill well. I vote for the Ruger 77/357 with Leupold ultralight 2.5x scope at only 6.5 oz. Wouldn’t be tough to smash deer and bears to 150 yards. Stainless, iron sights. Shoot 38 special for fun or grouse or trapping dispatch. 357 is flatter, offers more range and versatility than 44 imo, plus an extra round in the magazine with 357.

Big fan of ruger American ranch also, no irons though. I run one as my do all rifle in 6.5 Grendel, shoots great out to 500 yards but that’s not the best fit for your ask. The 77/357 will carry like a little .22 gopher gun and take all the abuse and neglect you can throw at it.
