Got our moose Thursday at noon ish! It is a small moose 2.5 years old(forks antlers) the moose was crossing the river above our camp with out us noticing it until something spooked him back and up river from us. He was moving fast running so no time to overthink stuff, I grabbed my rifle ran upstream from camp went already down the bank kneeled and put one round into him at 275m while hi was still running, then an other shot to make sure and a third one that wasn’t needed after all… really exciting moment!! The rifle a husqvarna 1640 carbine 30-06 with a Leupold 2.5-8 German 4 reticle( one of my favourite reticle but not really popular anymore)
My buddy didn’t see anything of it happen since the moose was around the corner and out of sight from him his 13 year old daughter is the first one who saw it and she instinctively let go a few cow call just to see if he would stop for me but it didn’t!
We had a lot of fun on that trip and we learned a few new things too, even after 26 years of hunting up here!
We were ready to spend 8 days but came back after 6! So now on to bison!
