Does anyone have a recommendation for a rimfire scope that has a smaller eyepiece? My CZ452 currently has a Tract 4-12x40 AO on it, and while I love it, there is barely any clearance between the scope and bolt. I know the Leupold VX-Freedom 3-9x33 Efr gas a small eyepiece (34mm?), which would allow for a smoother working of the bolt. However, are there any other rimfire scopes that would be similar?

I suppose my other option is to find a gunsmith or machinist to extend my bolt handle, but it's just easier to get a new scope.

And putting a '0*' cant rail would give you ca 1/4" more clearance, and getting 20* rail would give you a more functional 'long range' if you might use it. Some are well under $100, esp if you shop EE.
PS - on my B-22 with a Covenant-4 6-24x50 scope I used Vortex Pro LOW rings and got ca 1/16" front bell clearance and I just filed off a bit of the mag-ring so I wouldn't scrape my thumb every shot. Not fancy but it works fine.

Wouldn't higher rings be a lot easier route to go? I have vx2 2-7×33 on a couple rifles and that's about the smallest eyepiece I've seen on a scope.

The gun currently does have high scope rings. While I can chamber a round without the bolt rubbing the eyepiece, it does interfere with the nub of the magnification ring when on a higher power. I'm not a competitive shooter so I don't need a 12x scope haha

I'm not worried about front bell clearance, that is a non issue currently (lots of room there with high rings). Too much higher and it won't be as comfortable to shoot for me, which led me to think about a smaller eyepiece scope. It's just a preference to have a bit more room. I do know a lot of older scopes had smaller eyepieces, so I've though of trying to find a 3-9 with good clarity and a fine reticle

Older Leupolds and Redfields sport the smaller ocular bells.
It's too bad CZ dint improve their bolt handle to accommodate low mounting scopes.
Suite case handles don't look very well on these fine rifles.

I agree, the short handle on the 452's and 455's is a shame. The 457's have a 60° throw, which make a huge difference.

That could work I suppose. I hesitate to make it too much longer because I'm not an overly large guy, and it feels pretty comfortable the way it currently is.

I will add that I heard Clearidge Optics used to have a rimfire line that would have been perfect, but apparently they've shut down or something like that.

I had great luck with a SunOptics Shorty-Forty on my 452. Not a cool brand name but for the price it is clear enough, I had no issue with the bolt handle interfering, and it is short enough that I could use short mounts and the scope rested behind the rear sight, not touching it with perfect eye relief. It also has parallax adjustment and 3-9. Good field of view as well, and mil-dot reticle.

It worked well for me on that rifle, but I have since bought a 455 supermatch and have mounted a bigger, more powerful scope on it, and have returned the 452 to iron sights.
