Small Primer Flash Hole

I was sorting some 44 Mag today after cleaning. I was trying to de-prime and found that the S & B brass had a smaller flash hole. The de-primer pin kept getting pushed up. I look at my Federal cases and they have noticeably larger flash hole.

Is a one off thing or typical of S&B brass. I never noticed any issues with their 9MM brass.

For 44Mag I would drill the hole to a larger size.

But for rifle cases with a small flash hole, get a smaller decapper pin. The smaller the flash hole the lower the ES and SD. That is why they use the small holes.

44MAg is not exactly a match accuracy caliber.

I ran into a pile of S&B brass with small flash holes that caused my deprimer pin to pop up too. It was all 9mm for me but specifically was the "nontox" cases. The ones loaded with lead free primers from the factory. I don't know why those cases use smaller flash holes, maybe some quirk of the lead free priming compound that prefers it, but I find it frustrating when I have some mixed in my 9mm brass.
 
I had that problem with Igman brass from factory .222 Rem loads. Couldn't find a decapping pin that would fit, so I just had to discard that brass. Frustrating.
 
S&B are punched while Federal drills out their flash holes. S&B also has tight primer pockets that jam up my progressive presses. It just sort of sucks all around.
