Small semi auto pistol suggestions

I'm looking for suggestions about a small semi auto handgun that my girl friend can enjoy shooting while she builds her confidence. She isn't very strong and has complained in the past that she doesn't like the weight of the larger handguns. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

ditto and you can get one with a lighter tapered 4.75" barrel. heavy enough to be a soft shooter but light and compact enough for the smallest shooters.

small? you can't get smaller than the Browning 1911=22. it's a 1911 clone in .22LR that's about 75% the size of the original. it weigh's less than half an original 1911. mags are hard to come by, but Cabela's has them in stock, so you can get a couple

The Ruger Mark III is huge in comparison. I know because I just bought one and was blown away by the size differential. I have small hands...

My wife loves the M P 22. I shoot a MP9 and also love the MP22 for cheap practice.

Ruger 22/45 is a good option too, my wife loves ours. Ergonomics similar to a 1911, available in polymer and aluminium for light weight.

M&P 22. Can't pry it away from the gf's hands at the range. And it has the same weight and ergos as the full size M&P 9mm, when she's ready to move up and try a bigger calibre.

Or get a Glock 17 and put on a .22 conversion kit. Grip may be a bit big, but I don't think they weigh anything.

It's usually more about the size of the grips than the weight. Take her shopping and have her try a few on for size.

She liked the M&P22 and the 1911 22. I just don't want to miss anything that might be available that I haven't heard of. I want to keep her enjoying going to the range so I can keep going to the range.

X2 the Beretta Model 71 used in good shape $350-$450, all steel (except the grips), blued and it looks like a Beretta.
Getting some decent groups with mine.

just jk a 1911-22 would proble do quite well, love my gsg but its a full size 1911 but it is alot lighter all the women I brought to the range love it.

Both pistols have pretty slim profiles as I remember. Might be more comfortable for her to shoot.


Honestly, start bringing her to the range more. Every dude wants to let the pretty girl try his guns, so she can sample whatever is around. She'll pick something eventually.
