Smith and Wesson 28-2 in 357 mag Fair value?

Model 28 was made with either 4 or 6 inch barrel.
I'm assuming that this revolver wasn't altered in any way.
If it has the factory 6 inch barrel than it's a bit over 152 mm if I can remember correctly.
Like new model 28 may bring him anything between $650 and $750 as far as I know.

Personally I think $650-750 is more than a bit too much. I have 3 M28's, 2 x 6" and 1 x 4" and all are in excellent to like new, the most I paid for any of them was $400. For the price stated you can buy several different models of .357 new...

Point me toward like new restricted model 28 for $400 those days.
You paying more for k frames and fairly used ones at that.
I didn't see anything cheaper than $650 anywhere.
Beater will cost You $450-500.
Model 28 is no longer in production - so the prices are rising.
What kind of new models of .357 under $700 are we talking about?
686 is $900 gun and $700 used (more like $800 actually).
Ruger GP 100 will fit that bill only, but Ruger while solid gun is sure not on the level with the older S&W.

Unless you are talking 12.6 guns, I would really love it if you could point me towards a $400 like new .357

A good condition version runs around $550 give or take. One that is truly in "like new" would be somewhat more. Perhaps $650? He could TRY to get $700 for it but I think he'd be waiting a long time for the right person.

Very nice ones show up pretty consistently for $550 asking. What they finally sell for is likely a little under or at that price. The ones that show up on the EE for $600 seem to go through a bump or two before selling. So that probably represents the top end of the obviously used but still very nice looking options.

Tip #1 - don't buy in the EE...

It was a personal opinion/observation, no need to get wound up like I kicked your dog

I was thinking Ruger - either GP100 or SP101, both available for very close to the $700 mark and perhaps less if you look around. I'm obviously finding better deals than some on the forum. The price will be what the market will bear and as long as guys pay what I would consider to be inflated prices well that's what you're going to see, I guess...

6 to 7 would be about right. The 28 was a much cheaper version in finish than the 27.I believe some of the earlier ones had 6.5 inch barrels too.
