The Smith and Wesson gods have smiled upon us and have sent us two brand new, beautiful Model 500 pistols with the 6.5" half-lug light hunter models! These have the compensated barrels and high-vis red ramp sights with adjustable white-outline U-notch rears. And, of course, these beasts hold five rounds of the most powerful mass-production handgun caliber in existence, .500S&W Magnum. :D

Mein gott, I got to fire one of these monsters at the halloween event at Silverdale. Quite the handful, especially in that configuration. Still have the wound on my thumb where she bit me back!

I thought so too, and they were, but judging from there website S&W has brought them back. Great move, on there behalf. I couldn't decide between the 460V and the 500 so I got both. They still put a smile on my face when I bring them out.
 
Mooses which would you choose if you could only have one? I'd love the 500, but only want the 460 for the option of shooting 460, 454 or 45lc, that way its not always a paycheque to shoot :D

Wanna bet? It kind of depends on how much whiskey ... and what you ate beforehand.

Either will get you attention at a range. The 460V will give you a lot of flash and the 500 I have has an 8 inch barrel for just shear volume, it's massive. If you like wheel guns you can't go wrong with this one from Wanstalls.
 
Luv the 500 S&W, gets lots of attention at the range. Be sure to reload, factory cost about 4 bucks a piece locally vs. 40c reload.

Dan enjoyed firing mine at POCO.
 
How do I give a deposit to hold one. No local stores have one so I would like to drive down to check it out rather than buy online. But its 1000km, I would hate to get there and have them all sold out.

Well I got the ok from the missus. This gun wasnt on my must have list, so now im torn if its gonna be the 500 or the desert eagle 50ae.. I will call Gary on monday to come check it out anyways.
 
Get the 500, the largest production blah blah distinction missing from the 50ae.

I'm guessing you haven't shot both guns? I have the s&w 500 magnum with the 6.5" barrel like wanstalls is selling and it is wayyy more power than the desert eagle 50ae
 
Just a heads-up to the prospective buyers, if you are going to shoot at an indoor range check to see if the 500 or 460 are even allowed :)

While I can shoot 44mag and 454 Casul on the pistol side at my local indoor range, the 460 had to be fired on the rifle side.

Same thing kinda for the 500, could shoot the 500gr loads on the pistol side but the 350gr loadings were too fast/hot.

Not trying to bring anyone down just something to think about.

BTW, both rounds are flat out awesome!

Reloading is the only way to really enjoy these beasties :D
 
Just emailed Gary with my CC info so this better not turn into a progresive sale!! Sure hope I made the right choice buying this thing. Looked all over online to find one, to reference pricing with no luck. So who ever wants to order the other one in stock.. do it now because I couldnt find them anywhere else in Canada.. PS Dan said he would throw in a box of ammo with each gun ;) ;)
