Recently acquired a M 25-2 S&W revolver in 45 acp. I reload for autos . How much more can I increase my loads for the M25 revolver? Presently using 5.3 grs of ww231 powder behind a 230 gr LRN. Or do I follow the current 45acp reloading manuals for auto pistols. I want to load the max that I can without doing any damage to myself or revolver .
Thanks in advance for any 45acp revolver loads in my model 25-2.

I have the earlier version of this revolver, the target model of 1955 (and an earlier version of that, the 1917). I personally wouldn't load the ammo any hotter then max .45 ACP loads for a 1911. No sense risking possible damage to a very nice S&W N frame revolver just to gain a paltry few fps. FWIW - dan

I'm using the same load that you are in my 625, it takes dowm steel reactive targets with ease, is accurate and is still controllable. You can't ask for much more.

If you want more velocity, use a better powder than 231. 231 is good for accuract and mid-power.

For Full power, try Blue Dot, Herco or 296.

The novlty will weaar off as quickly as the pain. Don't buy a 8 pounder of 296.
