I was thinking of getting this trigger group modification done on one of my M-305 norcs and and a Garand.

The hammer and trigger are re-heat treated (as long as they are forged, like a norc or USGI bits), the contact spots are re-ground and a new set of oversized hardened pins are added, along wth a new SEI spec'd spring. The whole group is then refinished.

Just curious if anyone else was contemplating...

What for ?
It's nice and all but unless your trigger body is starting to get loose pin syndrome from the holes getting enlarged or ovalled, I really don't see the point.
Big cash, potential border hassles are the obvious downside. If you lived in the US, I'd probably have a different opinion but still, cost vs gain is something to consider even when it comes to smith ent services and products (which I am a fan of btw)

Paperwork isn't that big of a deal, along with the corresponding wait, if you've done it before... ...and I wouldn't post if not plannig to dot i's and cross t's.

I've found norc trigger group components to be a bit soft, so the reheat treat makes sense right out of the gate. I usually swap out with surplus USGI; however, the opportunity to fit precisely beforehand and then toss in a refisnish is attractive. Noting too that the oversized SEI pins used are relatively hard so I would not expect the wear I've seen to date (norc or USGI) and the resultant consistancy. I find the pin fit to housing from factory can be a little less than optimal to begin with anyhow...

I'll admit that it is not for everyone. But factoring in the cost differential between selling original equipment and obtaining USGI plus a good 'smith fitting, I don't see it as an excessive cash outlay. Just curious if anyone else contemplating, or already had done for that matter.

Yer #### will fall off! No just kidding... :nest:

In all truth, save yer money! I'm not joking about that! You want a good trigger on an accurate rifle get a Savage (or Rem or Sako or Winny) and install a Timney, or other custom trigger.

You wanna smoother M14 trigger/sear combo ? It's really easy, and you can even try using some toothpaste if you don't have 800 grit valve grinding compound to place in the hammer hooks/trigger sear contact points. Then once you add this improvised grinding compound, play with your trigger over 1000x  or one entire Leafs game (actually, they are playing really well when they beat my Oilers 6-3 the other night). :)

Just save your money for practice ammo! Then get out and shoot like the zombies are coming! :runaway: Well, okay not the zombies! But the NDP'ers were warning us that once the LGR is abolished then Armaggedon will happen!

When the upgrade first became available I balked at the cost, but went ahead and had the MAX-PAK performed on a TRW trigger group.
The results were outstanding... I have had the upgrade performed on 2 TRW and 3 Poly Tech trigger groups. Money well spent - go for it.
