Smith Wesson 586 front sight damaged...

The orange plastic insert on the front sight of this revolver has been chipped...does anybody know if this insert can be repaired or replaced as a do-it-yourself project?

Call Murray Charlton, he can tell you. Front sight was bent on my 629 with 6 inch barrel, but it was a spring loaded sight that i could easily remove myself, so i just ordered a new front sight from Murray and put it on myself.

Brownells used to sell a kit that allowed you to replace the plastic in the front sight, and even to change the colours. You can also do it with epoxy and dye, if you are a little bit handy. - dan
