Smith & Wesson 686-6 Plus 5 Inch Unfluted

Awesome. Do you have another .357 to compare it to? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

Closest I've come to one was shooting a fellows 4" model 19 at the range. It was a lovely gun, and so nicely balanced. I like my 4.25 GP100, but it's no Smith.

I have a 65, 686, and a 27. The k frame gun is definetly livelier in the hand and with full on 357 you notice a bit more muzzle flip. The 686 is a nice balance of weight and caliber...the 27 (and 627) are very steady guns with the large frame, and super fast on the follow up shots as the extra weight kills a good bit of recoil. Every one is fun. If i could carry it would be a 65 or 66....but if i was hunting it would be the 27. If i could only have one, it would be the 686

I got out with the 586, a 6" 19, a 27-2 6" and a 4.25" GP 100 yesterday and noted similar results.

I think that a 5" 686 might be ideal. The 586 is a bit long to hold steady for too long one handed, and the little gp100 actually was the nicest pointing one over all. The 19 was the best with .38 specials, though, and I need a smaller grip on the 27 to make it more at home in the hand.

I think a 66 is going to be on my to-buy list, and possibly a 5" 686 later, depending on how I take to the round butt. I've yet to find a conversion grip that I like.
