Hey guys,
I was wondering about this because I discovered this today.I was signing out a shotgun for work today and realized that the shotgun I was issued was a Smith & Wesson version of the Remington 870 police?? I was confused about this so I tought I would ask you guys. I kind of liked the stocks on it better than the regular. Are these still available?

Sorry,It was called a Smith & Wesson Model 3000.Any more info?

Made by Howa in Japan for Smith that according to Duncan Long in one of his book.

Do they still make them? I was kind of in the market for another IPSC shotgun.I figure even if I can pick up a used one somewhere,I would be happy. If the price is right of course!!!When I signed it out,the Vault Lead said, it was the only one they had like it ,which leads me to beleive it is extremely rare!

S&W got rid of long guns in the mid(?) '80's and sold the rights to Mossberg.

They are a good shotty, if you can get one. Mossy never sold the 3000, but went on to sell the rifle for about 5 years then stopped that.

RePete.

I bought an ex-OPP one from P&D a few years ago for $250.00, it seems to be quite well made. But then again I am partial to anything Smith and Wesson. :D

You mean this gun?

It even has crossed out OPP marks on the RCVR and the buttstock. Great gun locks up like a vault.

I was told by an Opp armourer that the rights were sold to Remington not Mossberg?

Do you know which one is definet?

Also what is the value of these guns today, anyone know I am also hearing big dollars? But no numbers, love to know.

I have a friend who wants to trade me a used HKVP70Z with only one mag, the original box and no manual but this gun is rare as well. I have no idea which is worth more. He wants it for there museum

Thoughts?

VP70 for the M3000, I,m having second thoughts. I know A vp70z sold here on the board a while ago for only 650 unfired in the original box with manual and two mags?

Any info would be appriated.

It was Mossberg that was selling the shotguns for a couple or so years. It was also catalogued.

Mossberg said they would honour the warrantees too.

My S&W shotgun:

Bought in the '80's from Frenchie's here in Calgary. The reciever is marked:

Smith & Wesson
Model 1000P

I took the "P" to mean that the reciever was originally meant as a police gun, but as you can see, she is a sporter, with highly finished parts and a vent rib over the barrel. On the bottom of the grip is very nice S&W escutcheon:

The finish on this gun is superb - as good as, or better than - Remington Wingmasters of the same era. Bolt and blued surfaces are at a mirror gloss. Although it still has the crappy anodized aluminum trigger group.
