I need to change the barrel on a model 34 J frame. It was manufactured in the 90's in .22lr.Is there any hidden pins that hold the threaded barrel in place?I haven't noticed any.Any suggestions would be appreciated.I am also trolling this question in the gunsmithing section as well.

This may sound stupid, but I hope you realize theres more to changing a barrel than just spinning the old one off and the new one on. .Removing the barrel alone is a task if u want it done properly and without damaging the finish. I have seen numerous stories of guys telling others how to do it with a broom handle, a shop vise and a pipe wrench. They never tell u about the bent frame or chewed up barrel as a result. Then theres the adjustment process afterwards and finally the registration if any changes to barrel length etc. .. It sounds like a simple task but if it has never been done before you may want to check into it a bit further and save yourself a whole lot of frustration. The downside of course is the family dog and neighbours won't get to hear the stream of expletives coming forth as a result if not successful:eek:
Hope it goes well for you in any case.
Cheers:)
