Hi all.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any Police Force in Canada that has been issued the M&P 9 Pro as a standard duty sidearm.

The reason I am asking is the M&P 9 Pro is currently not listed under the allowable list of firearms for PPC Duty Matches.

If I can find at least one Force who uses them then I can make a offical request to the CPCA to have it added.

Thanks for your help.

Do you guys know if there is a Canadian Nationals in PPC? And if so, where will they be held in 2010?

Well.......my reference to IPSC PD was simply regarding the fact that it had to have an ACTUAL trgger pull of at least 5lbs. to be legal. Actually my point seemed so obvious I am surprised you had to ask.

I was also under the impression that the trigger was lighter because of the literature S&W puts out on this piece but of course manufacturers have been know to be a little optimistic.

A member of CGN uses a S&W M&P Pro in IPSC PD -which requires a minimum 5lb trigger on the first shot- and has posted that he had the gun tested on the chrony stage and it passed.

Clear enough for you?

John

Tested on the chrony? For the trigger pull? lol!

My apologies...I wasn't aware that you are ignorant of IPSC/IDPA chrony procedures....my bad.

FYI during the chrony stage/procedure the competitors ammunition and firearm are checked to ensure they are legal for the division they are shooting in. Part of that testing for IPSC PD is checking to ensure the trigger pull meets the 5lb minimum on the first shot as per division requirements.

There you go...now you aren't quite as ignorant as you were a minute ago....you're welcome.

Oh....again my previous comments regarding the M&P Pro were simply directed at the question regarding the trigger pull not whether or not in was legal for your particular discipline....again....you're welcome.

Ok Mr. Black Badge. Thanks for all this information. Really.

They guy asked if this particular model was allowed in CPCA or could be. I gave him the answer. I don't think IPSC has anything to do with a CPCA competition question.

Watch your mouth e-thug. No need to be sarcastic or offensive here. Really just STFU.

Now go back to your IPSC threads and stay there.

Good day.

Oh my goodness..... such hostility

Have you ever considered the benefits of sensual massage?

It will help with all these unresolved anger issues. :D

Cpt.Flan so what if you have the Pro and it has a 5#+ trigger pull is it legal or not? If not then somebody in the CPCA made a strange decision. From what I understand most of the Pros test higher than 5#'s. I know if a Pro comes in under 5#'s in IPSC the Production shooter goes home. Do you know of any Police Departments that issue the M&P Long as standard issue here in Canada?

As to your quote in post #10 ie "Watch your mouth e-thug. No need to be sarcastic or offensive here. Really just STFU."

The comment was juvenile in the extreme. John was merely pointing out the fact the Pro does not always have a 5# trigger pull as advertized. I would have thought you would have lived long enough to realize sometimes advertizing can be misleading. To ban the Pro simply because of internet advertizing seems a bit strange to me; almost to strange to be believed.

Take Care

Bob

Wow...that is an interesting question. I don't see it listed on the online rulebook either

Odd.....

Maybe there is a different list that we are not privy to ;)

Maybe Capt. Flin can point us in the right direction. :)

The 9Pro should be excluded. It is factory tuned (21.1 c) - been "modified".
Read section 21.

I think the 9L should be included.

The 9L doesn't have any tricked out features like - extended mag release. It has
got the same frame guts as a normal 9 - unlike the factory tuned 9Pro. It has
the requisite fixed sights (i think they mean iron sights - no fiber optics which also
nixes the 9Pro). And honestly .75 inch of sight radius isn't a game breaker.

No rule on the barrel length. Besides, 5 inch barrels are essentially already
permitted - various Berretta 92/96 is on the list at (4.9 inch) well call it 5 inches.

Rule use to be 8lb D/A or striker fire first pull. Now it is down to 5lb.

National records are held with 106mm S&W 5906 and 5946, shot under the
old 8lb rules. So it isn't about the firearm.

In the spirit of the match, the CPCA Duty Pistol was never envision to be
equipment driven. Rather skill driven and to promote the use of day to day
(issued) gear carried by the individual LEO.

Most duty 9s/.40S&W (with a tuned load) should easily hold the 10-x ring of
the B27 from 3/5/7/15/25 yard.

M&P 40 is used by armoured car companies as a duty gun, but as far as a police force using the M&P in 9mm?... never heard of that.
