Hi.
I have the opportunity to buy a Smith & Wesson mod. 1000 shotgun. The problem is that it won't eject light charge cartridges like trap loads. Is that a malfunction due to that gun only or has someone else had the same problem?
I have tried all kind of shells of different makers and the gun cycled correctly only with heavy loads.
Thanks for the help!

I have a Model 1000 that I use regularly for skeet. No trouble.
They don't like to be dirty so the action probably needs to be stripped and carefully cleaned.
The gas piston is kind of odd, but should be removed from the tube and CAREFULLY cleaned as well.
While you are in there, there is an O ring residing inside the tube that the gas pison is in. You should remove the "O" ring and check it out, as they have a tendancy to crap out after a while.
Parts etc are available from Lone Star Guns in Texas, as well as reprints of the manuals I believe.
When Smith exited the business, Lonestar bought all the parts.
I may have an extra O ring. PM me if you need it, or perhaps I can measure it for you and you can find some locally.
For the record, I use 1oz loaded to 1150 fps - 700X,Federal Top Gun case, Claybuster SO1 clone wad and Fed. 209A primer (I use 209A for winter) and it functions flawlessly.
Good gun... grab it if the price is right!!!
Lonestar's parts group is www. lsgmfg.com
