My buddy has what I believe to be a S&W model 10 that he is thinking of selling. Since he is less computer savy then I am he asked me to see if I could sell it for him. So I went to see the revolver in question and found no model type stamped on it yet it really does look like a model 10. My question is where can I find the date of manufacture. There is no Serial No. listing that I can find on the web. I didn't think of asking him for his reg. cert.
anybody out there that can help?

EDIT: it's a .357

With the pinned barrel it was made before 1982 and will have a recessed cylinder. According to Supica and Nahas the Model 13 began production in 1974.

S&W Model 13

S&W Model 13 .357 mag 4" heavy barrel.... great K frame wheelgun... albeit fixed sites. Despite that, being a 12(6) probably won't get him much more than $250 these days. :( Maybe he should consider keeping it, especially if it's his only 12(6) piece.

On the actual model number you will find it stamped on the inside of the crane on the frame when you open the cylinder, not on the outside of the barrel....and the serial number will be on the base of the frame butt under the grips..... ;)

Thanks folks, you are right it is a model 13, his reg. cert was finally found. I'm a rifle guy with limited knowlegde of pistols just trying to help out a good friend.
He is fed up of the "provincial" rules constantly changing here in Qc and has decided to sell off everything he owns that is restricted.

This one will be a 12(6) prohibited handgun. Make sure he knows if he gets rid of all his handguns in the 12(6) category he will lose the 12(6) status on his PAL....

Send me a PM with the serial number.Remove the grips and you'll find it stamped on the bottom of the grip frame. I'll PM you back with the manufacturing date.
