This newbie is going to try it out at the range for the first time. Friend owns one. It's not going to shoot flames or anything crazy like that right??

357 packs alot of punch... for a newbie. Have you shot many handguns? If not then see if you can shoot some 38's from it before you shoot a 357 round.

That's what i figured! Haven't shot too many handguns. We're also bringing along a Baretta 92FS compact. Maybe I'll stick with that

if you can shoot a 9, you can shoot a .357. Itll be fun......my .357 is probably my favorite gun to shoot!

"...shoot flames or anything crazy like that right??..." Nope. Depends on the ammo though. Shot .38 velocity ammo out of a 4" 19 for years. Never quite got it to fit my hand right. Eventually sold it for just about what I paid for it after buying a Ruger GP100.

I agree with the advice to start with .38s.
