Just bought a very nice model 27 from a friend. He told me he believed it is of 1960's vintage. Are there any S+W experts here who could confirm that? Just curious. Im taking it to the range this week to shoot some .357 magnum and .38 Special through it.

I really want to have one of those in 100%, NIB, pristine, not fired condition.

Thanks! This particular revolver has seen very little use,no flash burn in the frame and bluing near 100%. I think its a keeper. The blueing on these old Smiths are pretty close to Python quality.

And when you want to shoot full house .357Mag's it makes it child's play. You know you're still shooting something serious but the gun simply doesn't jump around like the lighter L and K frame guns. The 27 or 28 are simply guns that are best suited to full house magnum all day every day. But they do great at shooting .38Spl as well just for a bonus.
