This is a 5 shot 44 magnum built on L frame. Is this gun available in Canada yet, and if so who sells it?

A couple places (irunguns, and I think P&D) have gotten in one or two, but they are definitely not a commonly stocked product yet. You just need to keep your eyes peeled.

I'm curious about it too. My main reservations would be wrt longevity and shootability.

Given the N frame 44 is not really renowned for its strength, I wonder how the L frame, even if only a 5-rounder, will do. Granted you don't buy a gun like this to shoot a steady diet of the supercharged 44s but I would hope it will stand up to a steady diet of standard factory strength loads. I saw the Jerry M review too and he had some interesting things to say about this so maybe it is a non issue. I guess only time will tell.

On a more practical note for me, I find the 4.2 629 a handful with factory loads and it is a few ounces heavier than the 69 so I wonder if the 69 is noticeably more challenging.

Thanks guys. I have a super blackhawk. It is nasty too shoot with factory grips. I bought a set of Hogue grips for it. Now it feels like I am trying to choke a tree (grips too big). I just put the factory grips back on and bought gloves from Marks to use with the wood grips. Ruger is retarded when it comes to super blackhawk grips and recoil pads on rifles. Lol. Oh ya, I do put my baby finger under wood grips when I shoot it.

Just be patient. After they finally hit the Canadian market it won't take long and there will be lots of used ones for sale just like there is of the model 629 with the 4.2 inch barrel.

The novelty wears off real fast after you shoot a few full house loads.

I went into Exeter Sporting Goods in 100 Mile House while my wife and I were camping at Green Lake. To my surprise they had a Model 69 on display. I of course asked to fondle it. They were asking $995 and I would have bought it on the spot but holiday fun kind of drained the bank account so I was SOL. It might still be there. As far as recoil is concerned, I shoot full house 300 grain loads out of my 4.2" Redhawk in .45 Colt and it is pretty harsh. That Smith weighs 9 ounces lighter so it's got to be a handful.
