SmithRite bullets

Not much of a decision for me......Canadian or not.
1. Unproven bullet at $1.80/bullet
2. Proven bullet at $0.75/bullet (Barnes TSX) or Partition.
I doubt it will do anything the X and NP can't... in fact, I would be surprised if it even came close.
At $ 0.50/bullet, I'd try a box.... but $1.80....OUCH

This makes me laugh because, IIRC, SmithRite was the major supplier of commercial garbage dumpsters in Vancouver in the guten alten tag. So much so that even today lots of people, mostly oldtimers I suppose, call garbage dumpsters "SmithRites".

Here are my thoughts when I originally looked at their website:
1. Where is a picture or two of an expanded bullet?
2. They look to have horrible BC"s (virtually roundnose)
3. !00% pure copper jacket and 100% pure lead, they claim them to be more "maleable" than alloy core bullets.... read "PANCAKE". I bet they open up like a flower when they hit... unless you use a heavy one..
4. Certainly heavy for caliber bullets, at moderate velocities I can imagine a 190gr from a 7 Mag being quite effective (not a beanfield cartridge though)
I think they are an option if a fella has $$$ to spend and desires really heavy for caliber bullets. They look to me to be a virtual replacement for the old Barnes Originals.....
Having said that, I still can't see using them over a , Nosler Partition, Barnes X...... at a fraction of the price. Certainly don't interest me at that price though.
Furthermore, a bullet that I would use if looking for Heavy for caliber moderate BC bullets would be the North Fork, at still a fraction of the price.

This topic came up here before, ether here or another forum. It may have been Smithrite, and it may have been some other company...

The bullets are expensive. They don't appear to be magical. They are not available at any gun store.
Barnes and Nosler have been making excellent big game bullets for years.
I don't think there is much you cannot do in the world of Big Game hunting that cannot be done by an X bullet, a Partition or an Accubond, at a fractionof the cost.
I often chastise people who won't even look at premium bullets becasue they say they are too much $$$, because even if you spend a little extra on good bullets it's not much, but close to $2 a bullet is double what an X bullet costs, which is getting silly.And again, I doubt that the Smithrites do anything that a TSX can't do.
