I made some ammo using blown out 303 cases. They hold a 240 gr 44cal SWC bullet and shoot well.
It occurred to me that some guns shoot both 45 Colt and 410. So I tried to make some ammo using 45 Colt cases.
Fired cases do not chamber in the SMLE. Sizing them helped a bit. They would chamber about half way. Since I have to stick a 44 SWC in the case, I sized the 45 cases in a 44 die until they would chamber.
I have loaded them with enough Unique to generate about 1000 fps. At 20 yards, about half of the bullets print round holes. The other half tumble. The musket groups fairly well if not loaded too hot.
The 44 cal bullet is a perfect tight fit for the barrel.
