SMLE confused!

Hello:
Just registered a
MA
LITHGOW
S.M.L.E.
II*
1941

I looked it up and found it to be a No 1 Mk II*

The registry came back with No. 1 Mk 3*


Am I missing something here?

There is no such thing as a SMLE II* Lithgow made in 1941. III* perhaps?

I look again and only see II not III

My stamp is light, too.

It really is III*, but tough to read. Trust us.

And the stupid part about My 41 Lithgow is that the verifier who should of known better seeing as he was working in a shop (milarm) that has a lot of Milsurps, Insisted that the CFC register it as a No1 MkII*, so they ended up having to make up a new number for it in the FRT.
