After a milsurp collecting hiatus due to the birth of a child and a bit of a financial crisis a few years back, I'm clawing my way back in.
Can I come back?
I had to sell my modest collection of No. 4s, 5s and Garands etc to make it through at the time, then watched, tears welling as they steadily climbed in value. Still trying to get over $300 Garands going for over $1k. Anyway, that's the way the market goes I suppose.
So... the story now. I got my hands on what I consider to be one of the finest WWI era SMLEs I've laid eyes on. No.4s and 5s I know pretty well. No. 1s,not so much.

I'm looking for the quintessential LE reference book. I've got a few from the Collector's Only series, but for Garands and M1 Carbines etc, but I see there's some pretty comprehensive volumes written for the LE series of rifles.

Another thing I was wondering with respect to this SMLE I have. It's in such beautiful all matching shape, I'm worried there's something wrong with it. There's no DP markings or anything that I've found, and no FTR either. Are there any other defect stamps that I'm unaware of that I should be lookin' for?

It makes sense.
Are you saying the bolt and nose cap are replacements because of the different font for the numbers? Why would they bother?
Which marking indicates that? The one between the reciever and barrel ser#s?

Yes, different font. The EFD mark by the gas port & the RE stamped to the left of the D prefix on the barrel indicate its been though RSAF Enfield
