my enfield is shooting low and to the left

low, and I mean I have to set for 300 to be on paper at 25m

and about 4in to the left

so far I corrected the elevation problem with a washer under the rear (leaf?) sight, now it falls about 8in high at 25m

do I have to replace the front sight? and where can one get the replacements??
from what I understand I have get a toller front sight and move it to the left?

open sights always confused me

I'm not the most experienced here, but I'll give it a try.

There are many places where you can get a set of front sights of different sizes (heights?). I'd start there... you should get a good improvement. Once you've selected the one that puts you in the right elevation range, you move on to adjusting that sight a bit on the left, or a bit on the right...

An integral part of the fun of shooting with iron sights, I believe.

Iron sights are simple.
Move your rear sight in the direction you want to shoot and the front sight is opposite. A shorter/lower front sight raises the point of impact.

khornet..

Yup, 300yds setting sounds about right. Nothing wrong with your sights. At 25m the bullet is climbing up on its arc of flight and will be above the sight line. Also, the bullet might not be fully stablised at 25m, not its best range. 303s are sighted to engage the enemy at 300 yards. Get rid of that washer and simply use the sight adjuster and remember the setting. To zero your windage, move the front sight insert to the left.

thansk guys for the input

englishman, if I remember right I tried the rifle at 100m first, but couldnt get the rounds on the paper, only when I elevetad the sight to 300 I started to hit the target, the way Im set right now I hit the paper at the right elevation at 100m, but 8in high at 25m

anyway Im off to silverdale to see if I got the vertical worked out right, and Ill double check my elevation then
