I picked up a nice 1918 No1 Mk3 that I believe to be an excellent candidate for restoration. Metal/bluing is at least 90% or better and the barrel is full length and the bore is absolutely pristine. My question is, where can I get a stock set that hopefully wont cost an arm and a leg, or if all else fails, what kind of wood should I use to make one?

I'm planning on doing these in walnut down the road but right now the acceptable sale price doesn't make them doable. Probably be close to $500 a set fitted, minus the steel front handguard cap. Be a few years before demand catches up to that

I just went through the same process on a sporterized No 1MK III. I found the metal pieces and the front top wood at Liberty Tree (some bits through Numrich). The prices are somewhat high when you factor in the dollar and shipping. I found the rest of the stock parts here on CGN in the EE. You might try posting a wanted ad for the specific wood pieces. I've had good luck with this as well. I posted some pics of the before and after in the restoration thread in the milsurp section. It turned out decent and was fun collecting the parts, etc.

I bought a stock duplicator at Christmas, I'm just finished setting it up. If you have a stock, That's "all there" but is all banged up, broken , split...etc. The term "workable" comes to mind. I can make you a new stock.
My idea is to be able to make stocks in Canada...for Canadians, or the U.S. in small numbers. And make a living....not get rich!!
If I can help out, drop me a pm.
I've been working on a long range / tactical stock for a K31, its looking great and was going to do a post on it, when its really to go.
Have other stocks/plugs for other guns...CZ858/VZ58 .... didn't make any for sale, because of the B.S. around these rifle, and some shotgun one also.
I have about 20+ years in fiberglass manufacturing, so one day ,a carbon fiber and or fiberglass stock is/would not be out of the question.
Cheers
Brian

Liberty Tree Collectors might have some in stock. I've bought stocks from them in the past.
They are an American store, but I never had issues with shipping and the shipping chargers were fair.
